Cory Barlog Indicates He’s Interested In Directing A Silent Hill Remaster

Cory Barlog, director of 2018’s God of War recently posted on twitter that he is interested in a remaster of Silent Hill.  In this Twitter interaction, gamespot asked their followers which classic PS1 title—Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill and Xenogears—they would have remastered if they had one wish.

Cory Barlog not only answered that he would remaster Silent Hill, but also they should let him direct it. Barlog is best known for directing the most recent God of War game, but has also played a role in directing Tomb Raider from 2013. Both of these titles lend credence to the idea that Barlog would be an ideal candidate for a Silent Hill remake

God of War explores ideas revolving around Kratos’ shame and regret for the deeds of the previous games, including but not limited to flooding the entire world. And Tomb Raider was often able to create a tense, frightening atmosphere even without the presence of the paranormal. Both of these channeled through the existing narrative lens provided through the setting of Silent Hill would make for an incredible retelling of one of the greatest horror games ever made.

Of course, the patrician answer would be to have Cory Barlog remake Metal Gear Solid and allow Hideo Kojima to continue with his vision that would have been Silent Hills. This is absolutely never ever going to happen, but a man can dream. A man can dream.
