Five Nights At Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery Is Looking To Haunt Your House Specifically

I’ve stated before that I’m not a huge VR fan, but I’m actually far more optimistic about AR games. For those of you that don’t know, AR stands for Augmented Reality. So while virtual reality requires an entirely designed virtual space, AR uses existing spaces and just adds stuff to them. No need for whole headsets and handheld controllers, just your phone. Current examples include the popular Pokemon GO and the more niche Night Terrors. As technology gets more advanced, the potential for AR just keeps expanding. Plus, since all you need is your phone, the barrier to entry is far smaller for most gamers.

Regardless of if you’re a fan of Five Nights at Freddy’s, the jumpscare-laden indie hit is pretty much the perfect candidate for the AR treatment. People already make all kinds of fake YouTube videos for kids where Freddy Fazbear blows up their phone (no, I will not be linking to any of that shit). So building off the trend with a free to play AR game makes perfect sense. With Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery, you can make your kids shit spooks anywhere, anytime.

Today, developer Illumix dropped some new details on the game and how you can get into the Early Access. More info from the Offical Press Release:

Illumix is revealing more information about the highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery — the next installment in one of today’s most popular and iconic horror properties. Illumix first announced the title in September, sending waves of excitement through the fanbase with the idea of characters from the fan-favorite franchise coming to life.

Today, Illumix is announcing that Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery will be the first free-to-play game in the franchise. It is the first FNAF game designed specifically for mobile gaming, as opposed to being a mobile port of the previous PC games. Illumix will continue to update the title with new content and features during live operations, and will be taking into account community feedback on an ongoing basis. Illumix CEO Kirin Sinha says: “Illumix is committed to creating innovative AR content that is accessible to everyone. Our DNA is in community gaming, and we are excited to begin working directly with the fans to evolve our first title through our Early Access program.”
