Former Silent Hill, Siren Director Announces Slitterhead

Keiichiro Toyma, the director of horror games like the original Silent Hill and PlayStation 2 and 3 series Siren (and also the criminally underrated Gravity Rush) announced his new game at The Game Awards 2021. Called Slitterhead, the game looks like it’s going for a bit more of an action-horror take than his previous games. Set in what appears to be Japan, we get to see characters doing battle with some rather absurd and terrifying monsters.

The trailer itself is rather cool, and includes one moment where a man uses some blood to create a sword. Is that anime? Kind of. Is that rad? Yes. Totally worth it. While there’s no gameplay in the trailer, it does a fantastic job selling the game. It also ends with a super cool shot of a single monster standing on the balcony of a giant apartment building. It’s really striking stuff.

This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten a look at Slitterhead, although it is the first time we’re seeing more than concept art. Earlier this year Keiichiro Toyma showed off the concept art of the game, giving a first look at what we could expect. Interestingly enough, it seems like the actual game monsters aren’t too far off from the actual end result. It’s always neat getting to see a game really take shape before your eyes. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we get to see more of this project.

While we may not know much else about Slitterhead, you can expect us to talk about it as soon as we learn more.
