Heavy Metal Action Shooter Valfaris Gets Even More Metal With New Full Metal Mode
You know, I don’t think anyone played Valfaris and thought to themselves, “I wish this was harder.” A game that basically mixed Contra with Iron Maiden, Valfaris was one of my favorite games of 2019. And it should be one of yours, too. It’s fucking badass. Just watch the trailer!
If you’re one of the enlightened ones that already played Valfaris , then today’s news is for you. Developer Steel Mantis has once again asked you to prove just how brass your balls are with a new Full Metal Mode. Now available on PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, the Full Metal Mode is New Game+ with attitude. Unlocking after you get a “Game Clear” save file, you’ll jump back in from the start with a whole host of new goodies. Here’s the list of changes:
- All weapons, upgrades, and upgrade items carry over between runs
- Enemies have increased health, attack, and aggression
- Bosses receive the same buffs – with additional attack patterns
- Therion takes more damage
- New Destroyer Class Weapon
I like the sound of that Destroyer Class Weapon. The trailer above shows off Vroll’s Fist, which does some sick gun-punching. On a serious note, I do love that the new mode comes with altered attack patterns. Too often do games just multiply health bars to increase difficulty. Real challenge is when the game throws something you don’t expect at you. So that’s another point in the awesome column, Vlafaris.
This is actually old news for PC gamers, who got the update back in December. But console players will now get the full joy of grinding their thumbs against the most brutally difficult challenge that Valfaris has to offer. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you should head on over to Steam and pick it up for just $25.
