Viking Dismemberment Game RUNE II Launching Today On PC

You know, who doesn’t love a little dismemberment? Or a lot. That was RUNE’s motto. I remember playing RUNE as a kid and thinking I had somehow peeked into the hidden world of “grown-up games.” Limbs would go flying, you’d pick up those limbs, bash people with them, and then drink some ale to make it all better. How did all video games not become increasingly advanced dismemberment combat simulators? Every day we stray further from our true path.

Anywho, Rune 2 is out today. Developed by Human Head Studios, the game is available only on PC and only on the Epic Game Store. You can pick it up now for $29.99. Also available are the Berserk Rage and God Slayer packs, which are $39.99 and $59.99 respectively. So if you want that shiny golden boat, best pony up the $60.

I actually got a chance to play Rune 2 at E3 a couple of years ago. I haven’t gotten to play the final game yet, but my take on it at the time was positive. You play as a Viking during Ragnarok. Loki has fucked shit up pretty bad, and now giants and draugr are doing some nasty shit. So you pick up your axe, and go about hacking every living thing to death in pursuit of more stuff. I guess you’re also trying to end Ragnarok or something. It doesn’t matter. Point is, you can pick up your own severed arm and beat people to death with it. That’s all I need to know.
