REMOTHERED: BROKEN PORCELAIN Reveals New Cast of Characters
It wasn’t too long ago that people were saying that horror games are dead. It all happened when Resident Evil 4 hit the scenes and proved that these here zombie games made a shit ton more money when you added roundhouse kicks. Then Dead Space came along and copied the shit out of it, but added zombies that satisfyingly dropped limbs like a rushed mom with an armful of groceries fumbling for her keys. Then everyone else copied the shit out of them for a while, until even the franchises that changed the genre ran out of ideas. Now Dead Space is dead, and Resident Evil has gone back to being about an evil residence. Meanwhile, classic-style horror games are booming. Titles like Layers of Fear, Outlast, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent spawn entire franchises. The whole genre has shifted back to helplessness and terror. Classic horror certainly didn’t die. It’s stronger than ever.
Even in this market rich with quality classic horror games, Remothered: Tortured Fathers was particularly striking and old-school. It’s brutal in a way games rarely are, unafraid to both shock and wantonly kill you. It’s hardcore and disturbing enough that it certainly isn’t for everyone. It’s one of those games that kicks your ass and keeps you coming back for more. If you give it a shot, it’s good enough that it can open your mind to a whole new world of gaming.
So of course fans were stoked when they heard that Stormind Games and Darril Arts would be making a sequel. Titled Remothered: Broken Porcelain, the game sets to continue the story that turned so many stomachs. Published by Modus Games for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, there’s still no release date other than sometime 2020. However, we did get our first peek today at the characters that we’ll meet in the Ashmann Inn.
Details on the story are sparse, but here’s what we got from the Official Press Release:
