Cendres: A Survival Journey Is A Tough Trek Though The Dustiest Bowl

I love games with interesting color palettes. The black and lightest blue from Return of the Obra Dinn, the sepia Instagram filter from Bendy and the Ink Machine, and now, the greyscale of Cendres: A Survival Journey. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic future caused by a massive volcano eruption, you play as a small group of scavengers and survivors looking for a place to call home. 

While the story of Cendres: A Survival Journey is unknown, at least as of now, it does not seem to have a traditional narrative. Much like Santa Monica Studio’s Journey, it seems you get plopped into the middle of this strange world with little idea of what’s going on. Only, of course, that you need to survive. 

According to the Steam page, there are 34 different endings, and many other survivors out in the wastes as well. The Cendres: A Survival Journey page also describes a bit about the four protagonists; Petra the leader, Sinh the fighter, Kali the scholar, and Nadir the scout. Evidently there will be relationship mechanics between them. Especially in regards to who gets that last medpack.
