You Can Buy The Ability To Control an Actual Human Being in a Fake Horror Video Game
I have absolutely no clue where the quote “if you die in the game you die in real life” came from, but every time I put on a VR headset I say it. Now it seems like Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon will find out if it’s real or not.
The event is called Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge. It begins on October 28th and will run until the 30th, in 10-minute slots. If you live in the UK then you can buy tickets to the event, starting on the 21st, which lets you use either your phone or computer to give commands to the person you’re “playing” as. If you happen to be playing on the 28th, there’s also a chance that person will be Iwan Rheon, who is best known for his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones. You’ll spend these ten minutes navigating a maze, trying to keep your human alive as various monsters attack.
The whole event does have a rather big name behind it, besides Iwan. It was created by John Zurhellen, a director who works for Rockstar and did some work on several of their biggest hits, including games like the Manhunt series, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto IV. He was also a writer on Payday 2 and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.
If you want in on Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge, you can buy the tickets here. You can also feel free to watch other people play when it goes live.
