Trailer: DARKWOOD Looks Like a Very F*cked Up Top-Down Horror Gaming Experience

It never fails to astonish me that with the unbelievable technological advancements the video gaming industry has at its fingertips that players are flocking in droves for more nostalgic forms of gaming styles. Take, for example, Darkwood, the upcoming top-down survival horror game from Acid Wizard Studio.

The game plays almost like Super Smash TV, although it is a more open world setting in which the player must navigate through a hellish landscape, scavenging and foraging for what meager supplies are available. All the while, macabre and nightmarish creatures roam the land and will attack without mercy or care at a moment’s notice.

Craft weapons, prepare traps, fortify hideouts – you will explore and scavenge the eerie forests of the Soviet Bloc by day, then hunker down in your hideout at night. With nightmarish forces corrupting the woods, wait and pray for the sun to come up the next morning. Wade through the grueling, bizarre world of Darkwood and delve into the creepiest secrets of its inhabitants to escape the infested land before it destroys your body and consumes your mind.

An announcement trailer has been released and can be seen below.

Darkwood will be coming to PS4, PC, Mac, and Linux on May 14.
