8Doors Bringing a Beautiful Korean Metroidvania Next Month
Today it was announced that 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure will be launching next month.
Featuring some absolutely beautiful graphics, 8Doors is a metroidvania inspired by the Korean myth of Princess Bari. You play as a young girl named Aurm, and her goal is to find her father’s soul in the afterlife. Of course, this means exploring the afterlife, and to do so she has to go through the 8 Doors of Purgatory. Naturally, this isn’t a safe journey, and while going through these doors Aurm will need to do battle with various spirits that will attempt to stop her.
The game already looks really fun, thanks to a fast-paced 2D combat system with various weapons. In the trailer we get to see Arum wield these weapons. Some are ones you may expect, like a scythe or a bow. Others are slightly more modern, like Arum smacking people with a baseball bat. One particularly interesting weapon sees her using an entire lamp post to create a shield. All of this is captured in some absolutely lovely artwork, which makes great use of color and is simply fantastic to stare at.
if 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure looks like your jam, you can add the game to your wishlist and grab it when it launches on April 7th.
