Welcome to the Ultra-Indie Daily Dose! In this series, we’re going to pick a new game every day from an indie horror creator you’ve probably never heard of. No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!

We’ve got a special Daily Dose game today! Two doses, actually. Courtesy of developer Octavi Navarro are both episodes of Midnight Scenes. This pair of stories are heavily inspired by The Twilight Zone, and told through the format of a classic point-and-click adventure.

The first of the Midnight Scenes follows a woman whose drive is interrupted by a fallen powerline. But this wreckage does not seem to have been caused by an accident or bad weather. You must figure out a way to get past it, and hopefully avoid whatever has caused all this destruction.

The second episode of Midnight Scenes follows a scientist. Taking a plane across the country to address an emergency in a lab, we cut back and forth, learning about the nature of what he was studying. The lab recently acquired an artifact they call the Elysian. And it seems to leave some mysterious happenings in its wake.

There is remarkable detail put into the art and animation. The sprites were amazingly done, and the music and atmosphere were top notch. Midnight Scenes expertly captures the feeling of a Twilight Zone episode, both aesthetically and stylistically. Even if you never watched The Twilight Zone, you gotta check out this game.
