Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse Coming To Switch
God, it’s crazy that Cyanide & Happiness is still around. So many other webcomics have come and gone, or morphed into super serious four-panel cringe. To me, Cyanide & Happiness populates the same area of my brain as StickDeath and Newgrounds. A good portion of my juvenile humor was shaped by C&H‘s juvenile humor. It’s been putting out almost a webcomic a day for 15 years now. While the art quality is largely the same, their animations have evolved into some top quality YouTube comedy. So it’s only logical for C&H to take the next big step into the world of games.
Now, video game adaptations of popular media have had a (well deserved) bad rap for a long time. But after the success of South Park: The Stick of Truth, I think that other studios are looking to make a quality adaptation of their comedy cartoons. Is Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse just as good? Idk. The game isn’t out yet. But here’s a description from the Official Press Relase:
You play as Coop “Go Away, Weirdo” McCarthy and all you want to do is make the world a better place. The trouble is: Nobody likes you, school sucks, you can’t find a prom date, everybody bullies you (including your teachers), and your attempts to help only make things worse. Will you escape high school alive? Who will love you? Do you even deserve love? Why is this game called Freakpocalypse? Find the answers to these questions and more by looking at, talking to, and touching everything within the C&H universe.
Not a lot of answers, but I’m on board. And now, Switch gamers can now be on board as well. Announced earlier this week as part of the Nintendo Indie World Showcase, Freakpocalypse is going to release on both PC and Switch this summer. While there isn’t much more to say at this time, you can find out more and wishlist the game on the Steam store page by clicking here.
