Well, Kano must certainly be pleased to hear this!

South Australia’s Adelaide will be the home for the production of Mortal Kombat, which is being produced by James Wan for New Line Cinema. The announcement marks the largest production in South Australia history, a fitting accolade for a film that traverses Earth and other realms.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall states, “South Australia has a long and successful tradition of feature film making and Mortal Kombat will showcase our production skills to the world. Mortal Kombat will be the largest film production in South Australia’s history and highlights the importance of engaging with the world’s major production houses.

Written by Greg Russo and directed by Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat will begin pre-production later this month with filming scheduled for later this year. Additional producers include Todd Garner, Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennet Walsh, Michael Clear, and Sean Robins as executive producer.
