E3 2019: Your Actions Can Change The World In DYING LIGHT 2

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for Dying Light 2, so the new trailer showcased during Microsoft’s E3 press conference certainly hit the spot.

If you never played the original Dying Light, it was basically a parkour-focused adventure set in a world filled with zombies. Think Assassin’s Creed meets The Walking Dead, and it was pretty damn good. It’s actually kind of hard to believe that Dying Light came from the same developer as Dead Island, but anyway, the sequel looks like it could be one of the best zombie games in years.

Regarding the plot, you will play as a character called Aiden Caldwell, who happens to be infected. So you won’t be able to spend too much time out in the daylight, unless you want to become a zombie yourself. And like its predecessor, Dying Light 2 will take place in a large open world environment, although this time, the consequences of your actions will have a major impact on the story. So it won’t all be about killing zombies and jumping off rooftops, because this time, you have the power to change the world.

Another key difference is that Dying Light 2 will have a much greater focus on fighting human enemies, so you’ll have to get used to shooting at people who can actually shoot back instead of just going up against slow and lumbering zombies. Having said that, you’ll also be able to grab zombies to break your fall when you jump from a long distance, which sounds both gross and cool at the same time.

Dying Light 2 will be published by Square Enix in North America, while Techland themselves will handle publishing duties in international territories. We can expect this highly anticipated sequel to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2020. As well as the new trailer, an in-depth interview with designer Tymon Smektała from E3 was uploaded to the Dying Light YouTube channel, which you can view here.
